Thank you for visiting the Wolfhaven website, we hope you enjoy the pictures and information provided on these animals and hopefully through the vast resources and research we have done with wolfdogs, via other breeders and the internet, have helped to ensure that you understand what this breed requires and demands from its family and future pack members.  As long as I can remember I have raised dogs, from small rescues as a small boy to Great Danes, Racoon’s and a few others.

I have always respected the wild and live for the outdoors and have admired and respected wolves in the wild since a small child and always told myself when I got older I would love to raise them if I had an opportunity.  Well not only did I get my wish but I am glad I never rushed and did my research and knew what to expect.  After raising our first pair of papered High Content Timber/Malamute and Mckenzie Vally/Malamute Wolfdogs, I knew then that I would never again be able to raise a different type of animal again.   When we did finally lose them to old age 14 and 13 ½ years, the emptiness my wife and I felt was truly one of loss in a way I can’t describe, they had brought so much to our lives that neither of us could understand, both my wife and I have had pets die but none brought us the same feelings as when we lost this pair.  They truly were family in so many ways, and my wife and I realized we had lost members of our own pack.

I will never truly be able to do justice, on how to describe how they are different, but imagine your own kids that you raise to be good, and you know they know right from wrong, and you do everything you can to protect and raise them to behave, but yet although there good, they still seem to always get into trouble (like coming to you all the time when you call but the 1 time you want them to come they don’t), or do something you wouldn’t expect (like hiding slippers, glasses, tools or whatever they think you like most), or throw a party when your gone (like eating a couch and having it spread out all across the house like they had a pillow fight with the stuffing) or being able to figure out how to open doors including child proof latches, even letting themselves out of the home by grabbing hold of the handle and opening the sliding glass door.  I have so many stories and tales that I could write a novel, just like anyone else who has had the fortune to raise this type of animal.  Also the sleepless nights, on wondering if they were going to get out of the 6 foot fence you put up only to realize, that just slows them down by about a step when they go over it or under it.  When you let your kids out to play and you see them dig in the sandbox, you say that’s cute, with Wolfdogs, if you see them dig be prepared to have a crater the size of a small meteor in a matter of hours.  It’s what they do and what they can do that amazes me. Please do your research, know what to expect, and be prepared.

My wife and I have 15+ years of experience with this breed, and many more years raising other types of pets and animals.  So when we decided to breed wolfdogs, we wanted to make sure we did it right.  The first thing is to make sure the breed of the dog fits good with its future owner,  although there is no way to ensure 100% we want to take the time to get to know you, ask questions etc.  If you live in a State that does not allow Wolfdogs, we will not sell one to you no matter what, for the safety of the animal and the breed.
